Urban explorations

The project promotes urban exploration pathways for children from the 67 participating Educational Units, focusing both on local neighborhood contexts and on the city’s cultural, artistic, and natural heritage.

The urban explorations, designed and carried out through a participatory approach, encourage engagement with diverse expressive languages and the active involvement of families, thereby strengthening children’s early experiences of citizenship. 

The initiative aims to strengthen the network between educational services and the educational city, promote transferable and sustainable models, and enhance Milan’s educational potential as a context for children’s growth and development.

The project is structured through integrated actions of planning, implementation, monitoring, and documentation, supported by city-level coordination and scientific supervision.

The project is funded through funds allocated under Law 285/1997, which support the National Fund for Children and Adolescents. This fund was established to promote the rights, quality of life, and development of minors, in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Administered by the Department of Family Policy, it finances local and regional initiatives, with a portion of the funds earmarked for 15 major Italian cities.
