FROM A START UP TO A CULTURAL CENTER
In the spring of 1998 at the Triennale Milano, Soldi! opened its doors, an interactive exhibition for children by MUBA, a reality still little known in the Milanese cultural scene and in the territory. The exhibition in just two months recorded more than 25,000 visitors.
A desired - and unexpected - success that becomes for MUBA the starting point from which to consolidate an idea, a dream and make it grow steadily until it becomes a reference model in children's culture on the city, national and European territory.
An idea that will be 25 years old in 2023 and that in 2014 found a new home, MUBA's current headquarters in the spaces of the Rotonda di via Besana.
In the meantime, MUBA has consolidated its position by building lasting relations and relationships with institutions, companies, artists and the whole world related to childhood (schools and families).
25 VOICES x 25 YEARS
History through the voices of its protagonists.
To celebrate its 25th anniversary MUBA involved journalist Chiara Pasqualetti Johnson in writing a choral narrative through the voices of some of the protagonists of the Museum's history.
From "we wanted an institution, a serious place that contained the spontaneous and magnificent energy of children" (Sabina Cantarelli, founding member) to "MUBA is a beautiful museum" (Agata, 6 years old) passing through many words and testimonies that tell of a long journey, full of satisfactions, but also of restarts and new beginnings.
The 25 entries are collected in a publication - edited by the graphic design studio Dondina Associati - which even in its 25x25cm format underscores the importance of this issue.
